Nicola Cefis

Nicola Cefis
Master’s degree in structural engineering and in materials and nanotechnology engineering from Politecnico di Milano with more than ten years of experience in the field of multiphysics (chemical-physical-mechanical) modeling of materials for structural applications.
After receiving his Ph.D. degree from the Politecnico di Milano, discussing a thesis on the chemical-mechanical modeling of cementitious materials for radioactive waste storage, he has carried out intensive numerical simulation activities, followed by the design of experimental campaigns for research or testing purposes, of structural elements for nuclear plant and of cementitious materials for radioactive waste storage (LLW to ILW).
He is currently engaged in university research and teaching in the field of solid mechanics with a focus on structural materials for nuclear applications (coatings for fast fission reactors) and aerospace applications (composites under ballistic loads, shielding of metallic materials for satellites).
Areas of Expertise:
- Thermomechanics of nuclear plants
- Multiphysics modeling of nuclear materials (chemical-mechanical, radiation-matter interaction)
- Design of experimental campaigns
- Testing
- Training
